![]() Quite the opposite, all I really want is a decent single player RPG in Star Trek universe. the story line can be done in less than 2 months, and unless you keep repeating all the episodes over and over again (something that you are not going to do once you discover how badly are written and how many glitches and broken things they have) you cant do anything else but raids and gearing your ship.Ībout piloting your ship, sure, you can do only that, but again, to do end-game content you would need to actually grind for the gear and other stuff. If you are not going to do that, you should just find another mmorpg. the whole end-game content is gearing your ship, and raids. Originally posted by Vogelmeister:Have any of you played this game solo? Is it still an enjoyable experience if you skip all the MMO stuff and don't care for endgame gear and raids?Įrm. That is half the fun of the game.Īlso I think you get at least 3 char slots so can have one type of each officer anyway But there are definate better ways to build a char, for a type of ship and weapons etc. Lots to learn and know about, but plenty of information on internet and nothing you can do will screw your char up as such. As you would expect the type of ship plays a very big part. BUT, any char can fly any ship, so its not a disaster if you dont have a science char in a science ship, but it does have excellent benefits.īut saying that any char can do excellent dps if ship is fitted well, with good bridge officers. IE Tactical is more the DD class, so escort ships fit them better. Some ships are more suited to types of officers. You will have to create a type of char, Tactical, science, or engineering. I suggest some reasearch on this when you have learnt the basics. There are a lot of various posts on internet about how to get some benefits from spending a little in game as a one off, to make life a lot easier. īank space, dilithium and credit cap, char slots on account. Spending money does come with other benefits. They do seasonal contests/missions where you may also get free ships I believe. You can also buy some on the exchange (in game market), which are a lot of credits. You do get some free ships as you level and can buy some for dilithium. The only content behind a paywall is the ships. One more thing – does it have any story content gated behind a paywall? You can join a fleet (guild), most people do and there are benefits, but again most join and continue just to solo, though you can obviously chat and do things with fleet mates, there is no requirement to, from the game at least. If you like Star Trek I think you will enjoy the story missions and kitting out, flying ships. ![]() Also research and manufacture is done solo. Developing your char, with traits, ship officers and such like is what most people do. Mostly groups of 5-10 ships or ground combat, short missions lasting 15-30 minutes. The most comparable thing is group finder for getting reputation rewards. I'm not even sure if you can group to do these. To level you can do story line missions solo, I would say this how how most/all people level up. ![]() Originally posted by calvin1969:Unlike most other MMO's STO is mainly solo really.
